Spring Drilling is well underway. The variety is Chilam and that is a group 2 wheat with resistance to orange blossom midge and high levels of tolerance to both Septoria tritici and yellow rust. These are two main cereal diseases that lead to poor yield across the farm. By selecting the most resistant varieties we can get a good start to growing the crop without the use of artificial fungicides. Through the growing cycle we carefully monitor plant health through tissue analysis and apply naturally derived nutrients as and when required to ensure the crop stays healthy and less susceptible to disease and pest.
