When we have finished harvesting our brassica vegetables the leaves and stalks left behind don’t go to waste. We graze them down with sheep which gives us a good food source for them and reduces the need for some cultivations before the following crops. By grazing these vegetable stubbles it also improves fertility as the sheep return nutrients back into the soil and they also graze on weeds such as chick weed that may come up.
